Sydney

Sydney is Australia's largest, most attractive, most interesting and most international city.  

It is built around the most beautiful harbour in the world, home to the world famous Opera House and Harbour Bridge. It has a mild, sunny climate, great beaches, exciting nightlife and there are always things to see and do.

The areas surrounding the city centre offer many outdoor opportunities - there are gyms, swimming pools, golf courses, great beaches, scuba diving. Further afield is the scenery of the Blue Mountains and Royal National Park.

Sydney welcomes people from all over the world. The many migrants who have arrived over the past 150 years have given it a multicultural heritage second to none - there are restaurants, shops and festival from almost every country in the world.

Sydney is one of the major financial and business centres in the Asia Pacific. It is home to Australia's main financial institutions, and many global organisations, especially those concentrating on financial and business services, information technology and telecommunications have their regional headquarters there.

Sydney's Cost of Living

The cost of living in Sydney is variable dependable on where you live and the lifestyle you want to have.

The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) advises that the indicative cost of living is $AU18,000 per year for a single adult. This is a weekly cost of $360 per week assuming that you are living in shared student accommodation.
